Sonic Producer – Is it good?

This is a real review not designed to make you want it so bad, you will click on my link and make money for me.

Let’s take a moment to look at one online beat making site called Sonic Producer.

The Sonic Producer site that promises things like:

  • “You won’t leave your computer for 4 days straight”
  • “You will make thousands of beats”

Now I can accept a little bit of marketing hype, nothing wrong with that. But does the site really deliver on the promises of people promoting it?

Affiliate Driven

Sonic Producer is an affiliate driven site. What this means is that people sign up to sell you Sonic Producer for a commision. For every person they send to the main site, they collect part of  the one-time fee of $29. Oh and when you pony up the dough, they will make sure you also know about the affiliate system so you can make your money back and put more money in their pockets.

The truth?

And this is the part where I have a problem with it. Since it uses other so called beat makers to advertise and promote Sonic Producer, you get a lot of little sites and youtube videos popping up saying how great Sonic Producer is. They tell you how Sonic Producer makes you a professional. They tell you how it helped them to become a professional.  All they want is for you to be so gung-ho about Sonic Producer, you will click on their link and they will get part of your money when you buy Sonic Producer. I would guess a lot of them feel suckered by it and just want to get back what they can. It’s a hustle that get perpetuated over and over again.

The real question

The real question to me is will Sonic Producer make you a professional beat maker? My answer is probably not.

For one, Sonic Producer does very little to actually teach you about music production beyond the most basic things like laying down a drum pattern and layering some loops over it. All of these things you can do with free software that you can download and use legally.

Even the demo version of FL Studio will give you a million times the power and let you save to an MP3 – This is how Soulja Boy made his million selling hits. Plus there are tones of free sites with tutorials on using legitimate programs like FL Studio, Reason, etc..

And honestly, I can’t imagine someone from a record company taking anyone seriously when they make beats using Sonic Producer. They will hear the same sounds and loops as hundreds or maybe thousands of other people. What will you do if the record company exec says, “We need that hook in a different key for our singer’s voice” or “We need the melody to extend four more bars on the second verse”? You might have that deer in the headlights look thanks to Sonic Producer and it’s affiliates promises.

As a kiddie toy to play with and have fun, Sonic Producer does deliver. If you want to make beats to be a real professional or even a real artist, don’t bother with Sonic Producer. Spend time on sites like this one and get demo version of of real DAWs like FL Studio, Reason, Logic, Garageband, Sonar, Cubase, etc…

Make your mark when you make beats from your own creativity and motivation and not on the hopes that there is a lazy way to make it as a beat maker.

  1. Have you tried Sonic Producer personally? I bought it for a friend and he loves it..haven’t heard any complaints with it.

  2. *rbj* productions

i totally agree with you i was testing it out it really isnt any were near better than fl studio or reason etc

  3. I haven’t tried it personally. I have seen the videos and talked to dozens of people all of whom felt it was nothing more than a glorified beat making toy.

A few of the people I spoke with told me that they felt dumb for buying it with the false hope that it would somehow lead to a professional career. Many of them also still promote it as a great product with the sole intention of cashing in on the affiliate payments, even though they no longer use it.

As a “toy” I have no issue with it, but I’m telling you if beat making or audio production is your goal, you would be better off spending that monthly fee on something to help you get to your goal and actually teaching you something.

  4. I think to make rap beats is a very good, the bad is that it gives higher priority to members that the program itself.
Also, as a beatmaker, not limited to creating just rap beats, I try to create other musical styles such as reggae, reggaeton, techno, and more. And Sonic Producer is only to create rap beats.

  5. Beat Making Software

Sonic Producer is good for complete beginners who want to get a feel for making beats.

However if you want to be a professional I advice you to get a software like Fl studio or reason and get familiar with it.
